R. Shane Kennedy joins TBWA from global healthcare communications company, Sudler & Hennessey
New York, July 17 2013 – TBWA\WorldHealth has announced former EVP and Managing Director, Digital of S&H as its new Managing Director. Shane will report into TBWA\Chiat\Day New York’s President, Robert Harwood-Matthews.
Shane’s former role at S&H saw him responsible for the successful digital integration and growth across the entire agency. As a member of the executive team, Shane led a diverse team of 45 people including the UX, technology and digital departments across clients including Alexion, Boehringer-Ingelheim, Forest, Genentech, Galderma, Janssen and Pfizer.
“Shane’s combination of digital and entrepreneurial talents will further evolve TBWA\WorldHealth’s digital vision for clients,” comments Robert. “He has this incredible hybrid background of digital and tech alongside strong healthcare experience, which puts him in a great position for helping to develop TBWA\WorldHealth’s vision for clients.”
Prior to S&H, Shane was Marketing and Business Development Director of London-based company, Elateral Ltd, where he worked to leverage existing clients’ business into expanded US market presence.
In 2000, Shane was responsible for founding the web based technology company – MarketingForce, launching a first-to-market online software application resulting in revenues over $18 million. His global clients included American Express, Century 21, Day’s Inn, Domino’s and Motorola.
In other healthcare-related experience, Shane held the position of Chief Operating Officer at McCann HumanCare, where he helped co-found McCann-Erickson’s first direct to consumer advertising group. Here, Shane fully integrated the group into the McCann New York infrastructure, managed its P&L and drove business growth to over $60 million in two years. He oversaw all new business efforts for the group, which resulted in innovative campaigns for GSK, Amgen and Schering-Plough. Prior to McCann, Shane held the SVP role at Publicis Groupe where he worked closely with Johnson & Johnson and GlaxoSmithKline (Purpose, Ecotrin, Clean & Clear, J&J Baby and Propulsid).
Shane is also well respected for his speaking engagements, which have included sessions at the 4A’s, the International Franchise Association and Healthcare Communication and Marketing Association.
