SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Thursday September 5, 2013 – Eleven PR’s campaign to insulate Birdsville, the most isolated town in Australia, launches this week for Knauf Insulation.
The project, which involved trucking 8,000m2 of Earthwool insulation (enough to cover a footy field) across the outback 1500kms by road-train from Brisbane to Birdsville, started in April this year and concludes this weekend at the Birdsville Races.
During summer this year, Birdsville made international news headlines as temperatures reached over 40 degrees for 29 days straight and thermometers peaked at 49 degrees on the hottest day. Thongs have been known to melt into the tarmac outside the Birdsville Hotel. During winter however, the town can reach as low as zero degrees at night.
The town caught the attention of Knauf Insulation, who realised they could make a dramatic difference to the lives of locals, simply by insulating every house in Birdsville for free.
A six-minute mini-documentary and two-minute short about the project has been released on YouTube.

Commenting on the project, Rob Lowe, Director of Eleven PR Australia, says:
“Working with the team at Knauf Insulation, Birdsville council and local residents over the last few months, has been a once in a lifetime experience. PR projects that make a positive and tangible impact on the lives of real people are not just effective, they’re a pleasure to work on.”
